Safe Program Consultant (SPC)
SPCs are responsible for driving and implementing SAFe across the organization. They coach teams, guide leadership through the transformation process, and ensure alignment of business goals with agile practices. SPCs play a central role in scaling agility across departments and functions, helping to establish lean-agile mindsets, value streams, and the Lean Portfolio Management structure. They also facilitate key events such as PI Planning and Inspect and Adapt (I&A) workshops
Objectives and Key Results (OKR)
OKRs are a widely used framework to align team objectives with measurable outcomes. In agile project management, OKRs help teams set clear, outcome-driven goals that are reviewed and adjusted regularly. They provide transparency and focus, helping teams prioritize work that delivers value and aligns with the overall business strategy. OKRs are used at all levels, from individual teams to the portfolio level
Scrum Master
The Scrum Master is responsible for ensuring that agile principles are upheld within individual teams. They act as facilitators for daily scrums, sprint planning, and retrospectives, and help the team remove obstacles that could hinder progress. While the RTE oversees ART-level activities, Scrum Masters focus on team-level execution.
Product Owner (PO)
The Product Owner prioritizes the product backlog, ensuring that the team is working on tasks that deliver the most value. POs work closely with stakeholders and teams to balance immediate delivery needs with long-term goals.
Release Train Engineer (RTE)
The RTE is a key role in the SAFe framework, acting as a servant leader and chief Scrum Master for an Agile Release Train (ART), which is a team of multiple agile teams. Their main responsibilities include facilitating Program Increment (PI) Planning, coordinating synchronization events (e.g., System Demos), and optimizing the flow of value through the ART. The RTE ensures that teams are on track, impediments are removed, and alignment with business priorities is maintained.
